Dental Veneers

Woman smiling with perfect teethFor patients who have chipped, stained, or unevenly spaced front teeth, veneers are an option that our team at Town Center Dental offers to help you achieve a brighter smile. Veneers are shells attached to the front of broken teeth in order to approve their appearance. Veneers can improve a tooth's color, shape, size, and length. Some people only get one veneer in the case of a broken or chipped tooth. Most often veneers cover six to eight teeth in order to achieve a more symmetrical and even smile.

What Are Veneers Made Of?

Veneers are thin facings that dentists can attach to the tooth which serves as the base. Dental veneers are most commonly made of porcelain or composite resin. Depending on the material used the treatment will differ. No prep veneers like Lumineers and Vivaneers are less invasive and take less time to apply. The specific brands do not require the removal of enamel to be applied. Porcelain veneers can encase your teeth without extensive and invasive dental procedures.

What To Expect

Applying dental veneers requires removing the tooth structure so that the veneer may replace it. Composite resin veneers require the dentist to etch the surface of your tooth before applying a layer of the composite resin thinly. Additional layers can be added to achieve your desired smile. To finish, your dentist will cure the composite resin material with an ultraviolet light. For other porcelain veneers, significant amounts of tooth structure must be removed.

In order to properly place your veneers, the dentist will have to grind down the structure past the enamel. For this reason, the dentist will use local anesthetics. This way you can be sure that the only discomfort you will feel is the slight pinch of a needle injecting anesthetics. The amount of tooth structure reduced will depend on your individual dental concerns and the number of teeth involved. Next, the dentist will create a mold that will be sent to a dental lab. Once the veneer is ready we can cement your new smile into place.

What Are The Benefits?

In relatively no time, veneers can completely transform your smile. If you have multiple teeth requiring treatment, veneers could be the best option for you. If you suffer from severe tooth decay, veneers can serve as a protective barrier from bacteria. If your teeth have stains, veneers are highly resistant to staining from coffee, tea, or smoking. Your new teeth will be brighter, so teeth whitening will no longer be a concern. Veneers can allow anyone to have the smile they have always wanted.

Aftercare

Porcelain veneers are very durable and can last 10 to 15 years given the proper care. This means to be careful with certain foods, wear a nightguard or athletic guard, when necessary, avoid bad habits concerning your teeth, practice good oral hygiene, and schedule regular cleanings. Our dentists at Town Center Dental have experience treating our patients with veneers in order to give them the smile they desire.
